Apple revealed on Monday that it has sold about one million units of its much-hyped gadget, the iPad, as of Friday last week.
The hand-held tablet, which was launched on April 3, sold more quickly than the iPhone, which took 74 days to achieve this many sales, according to Apple chief executive and co-founder Steve Jobs. He added that the demand for the tablet computer “continues to exceed supply.”
In a press release made by Apple, it announced that it is postponing the availability of iPad to international users “by one month, until the end of May.” However, Apple’s UK website will start accepting pre-orders on May 10.
Since its launch, iPad users have downloaded over 12 million applications from the Apple iTunes app store and more than 1.5 million ebooks from the iBookstore.
