An earthquake, which registered at magnitude 5.6 on the Richter’s scale, hit Venezuela at 18:00 GMT on Friday.
According to the United States Geological Survey, the earthquake was centered at about 375 km east of Caracas, at a depth of 11.7 km.
Enrique Maestre, the Sucre state governer, said, “There were no signs of victims or serious damage to buildings, and power supply was down in some areas but was already being restored.”
The eastern states of Anzoategui and Sucre experienced mild aftershocks.
Venezuela and Haiti lie on the same Caribbean oceanic tectonic plate. According to the National Public Radio, the Venezuela earthquake hit a coastal town that is about 813 miles away from Port-au-Prince, Haiti.
In Oklahoma, USA, a 4.0 magnitude quake was felt at around 9:18 in the morning.
