Six women are recuperating from infections and injuries after being injected with hazardous substances for butt enhancement, according to the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services.
Sources said that all six women were from Dominican Republic.
The procedure was apparently performed by a group of unlicensed, black-market “backside enhancement practitioners” in Newark hotels.
Health officials believe that the injections contained a mixture of several materials including petroleum jelly, silicone and hardware-grade caulk.
NJ state epidemiologist Dr. Tina Tan said, “Fortunately, these women are being treated and are recovering. But there is the potential for more serious complications if these infections are not treated early and properly.”
All hospitals, health care clinics and physicians in the state have already been notified. No criminal charges and arrests have yet to be filed and made.
