A 6.0 magnitude earthquake had struck Northern California at about 12:20 p.m. on Thursday, at a depth of seven miles and distance of 35 miles west-northwest of Petrolia, the United States Geological Survey said.
A police spokesman said, no reports of any injuries or damaged structures were reported to them. Eureka Police Department’s Lt. Murl Harpham said, “Spilled coffee is about the worst thing.”
A few weeks ago, in January 9, a quake that registered at magnitude 6.5 hit the coast of Eureka, leaving a few damaged structures in the downtown area. There was also a house that got knocked off its foundation. Harpham said, over 120 homeowners in the area began taking down unsafe chimneys.
