The American Idol Season 8 runner-up’s controversial performance at the American Music Awards on Sunday has generated more than 1,500 complaints from viewers.
Adam Lambert kissed one of the male musicians on the mouth during the closing act. He also simulated sex with a back-up dancer on stage.
The openly gay singer told CNN that the kiss was unplanned, and that everything happened “in the moment”.
The producers of ABC network have not given any kind of comment yet.
Lambert performed “For Your Entertainment,” his debut single from his debut album of the same title.
The Idol star said that people getting upset by what he did is a “form of discrimination and it’s too bad.”
The 25-year-old added, “I had fun, my dancers had fun, the audience that was in the Nokia Theatre had fun. Anybody else who was watching it and enjoying it, thank you for being entertained.”
The Parents Television Council or PTC called the act “tasteless” and “vulgar”.
