Allyson Felix gets third gold medal in Berlin

American Allyson Felix managed to secure her third straight gold medal running in the women’s 200 meters at the World Athletics Championship in Berlin, although Jeremy Wariner, also American, failed to succeed in the same respect running the men’s 400 meters.

Felix ran at 20.02 seconds, enough to bump Olympic Champion Veronica Campbell-Brown (Jamaica) to second place, with Debbie Ferguson-McKenzie (the Bahamas) in third.

“I’ve worked really hard to defend my title and I cannot ask for more,” said Felix of the win. “All my titles are different but this one happened in a stadium with a lot of history so this is definitely something special for me.”

Wariner, however, lost his title to LaShawn Merritt, after running 44.60 seconds against Merritt’s 44.06.

“I feel disappointed because I wanted to defend my title. It was the slowest season for me but the next is going to be different, I guarantee,” Wariner said in a statement.
