“American Idol” top 20 results: 4 more Idol aspirants say goodbye

The American Idol contestants are down to 16, as two girls and two boys bid the Idol stage farewell at tonight’s results show.

Last week, we saw Janell Wheeler, Ashley Rodriguez, Joe Munoz and Tyler Grady leave. This week, the lowest vote-getters were Michelle Delamor, Haeley Vaughn, John Park and Jermaine Sellers.

Sellers, who sang “What’s Going On” during the guys performance night and received a not-so-good feedback from Idol judge Simon Cowell, said, “Where I sing from, you can’t be taught how to riff and run and sing high notes. I’m a church singer. That’s where my heart is.”

16-year-old Haeley Vaugh, who performed “The Climb” Thursday night, said “I think I could definitely use some more experience.”

Last season’s 3rd placer, Danny Gokey, was back on Idol and sang “My Best Days Are Ahead of Me,” the debut single from his album.

Eliminations of Haeley and Jermaine were expected but Michelle was surprising, and while John didn't have the best performance, his fan base was huge which goes to show that Idols worries that fans base would sway votes was clearly unwarranted. I think John's farewell performance though was probably his best because he had nothing to lose at that point and nailed it.
