Michael Lynche gets to live another week as the four Idol judges decided to use the “save” on him on tonight’s American Idol results show.
The 26-year-old singer from New York surprisingly received the lowest number of votes this week, even after doing an okay job during the John Lennon/Paul McCartney week. The judges were impressed with his version of “Eleanor Rigby” by the Beatles.
Lynche was in the bottom three with Aaron Kelly and Andrew Garcia. He sang “This Woman’s Work” by Maxwell one more time, after Kelly and Garcia were told that they were both safe.
After Big Mike‘s performance, Simon Cowell said, “This is unanimous, Michael, if that’s any comfort. We have decided we’re going to see you next week.”
American Idol season 8 runner-up Adam Lambert will return to Idol next week as the top 8 finalists’ mentor. Two contestants will also be eliminated next week as a result of Lynche’s save.
