Amy Locane, star of the 1990’s television series “Melrose Place,” was arrested Sunday night after killing a woman in a drunk-driving accident in Montgomery, New Jersey.
The 38-year-old actress reportedly got into a small hit-and-run incident right before the crash. She rear-ended a car and drove off while “swerving and knocking down several mailboxes,” a witness said.
The fatal crash occurred a few minutes and miles later. Her SUV ran into another car and killed the woman in the front seat. The driver suffered from serious injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital.
Police arrested Locane at the scene and charged her with DUI, second-degree vehicular homicide and third-degree assault by auto. She admitted that she had too much to drink before the accidents.
The actress, who also appeared in “Cry-Baby” and “Airheads,” could face a maximum of 10-year jail time if convicted.
