Hype over the unveiling of Apple’s new iPad - a sleek new tablet device much like a terribly enlarged iPhone - had arguably been very overrated, as massive mobs of consumers and analysts express disappointment over Steve Jobs‘ new plaything.
One of the features missing from the iPad seems to be an integrated camera. The demonstration and launch event yesterday made no mention whatsoever of a camera and how it will be supported by the iPad, much like no mention had been made about the iPad accepting calls.
However, AppleInsider reveals that the upcoming iPhone OS version 3.2 for the iPad would be camera-ready, and will let an iPad function with an external camera accessory. Weirdly enough, the ‘iPhone OS 3.2′ is slated to only be for the iPad, not the iPhone. The discovery of functionality for the camera was discovered soon after the iPad software development kit (SDK) had been made available to programmers.
It must be noted, however, that with the upcoming iPad update, there still seems to be no mention of multitasking functionality at all, although several other functionalities were noticed, including support for external displays and file sharing. No other details have been made available about these as of yet, however.
