Apple Manager Held by U.S. Marshals Service

Paul Shin Devine, a midlevel global supply manager at Apple since 2005, is due in court on Monday afternoon.

Devine was arrested Friday after joint investigation by the FBI and Internal Revenue Service proved that he had been accepting kickbacks from six Asian companies located in South Korea, China, Taiwan and Singapore.

Devine, 37, is accused of taking $1 million in payments and bribes over several years.  He allegedly used his position to obtain confidential information that he sold to these six companies involving iPhone and iPod accessories so that these companies could negotiate good contracts with Apple.

Devine opened several foreign bank accounts, including one in his wife’s name to cover up the payments.

Devine faces twenty-three counts of a federal grand jury indictment on wire fraud, money laundering and kickbacks related to his position at the company.

Andrew Ang of Singapore is reported to share with Devine these kickbacks and faces the same charges.
