Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsey may be out due to grave leg injury: Premier League

Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsey suffered a grave leg injury after being heavily tackled by opponent Ryan Shawcross during Arsenal’s 3-1 Premier League win at Stoke.

Ramsey’s injury comes at exactly 2 years and 4 days after teammate Eduardo‘s own leg break injury at Birmingham, which came from a tackle by Martin Taylor in a Premier League match. Arsenal also lost Abou Diaby to a similar injury back in 2006.

“To see a young boy of 19-years old be injured like that – it’s just not acceptable,” says Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger of the accident. “We will know how long he will be out later but he will be out for a long time.”

Ramsey injured his tibia and fibula in his right leg, and no estimate has been given yet as to how long recovery will take.

“There was absolutely no malice in the challenge,” shares Shawcross of the tackle. “I would never go out to hurt a fellow professional. I am deeply upset that Aaron has suffered such a bad injury and my thoughts are with him. I would like to send him my best wishes too for a speedy recovery.”
