U.S. mothers are feeding their infants herbal supplements or teas, a research has found.
According to Food and Drug Administration researchers who led the study on 2, 600 mothers from 2005 to 2007, about 9 percent studied had been fed supplements at least once.
Gripe water for colic and chamomile tea were found to be the most common products. Many others were also used to cure fussiness and digestive problems. Side effects weren’t examined.
The authors say there’s a potential for harm but didn’t examine the side effects.
