Arizona quarterback Kurt Warner, fresh from a missed game due to a concussion, led the Cardinals with a spectacular 30-17 victory over the Minnesota Vikings last Sunday.
Warner threw for a total of 285 yards in the game, scoring for three touchdowns.
“They played like they were in the Super Bowl last year,” Vikings quarterback Brett Favre said of the Cardinals after the game. “We obviously have to play better if we want to be the team that’s in the Super Bowl this year.”
Favre, on the other hand, arguably played significantly worse, having two passes intercepted in the game and himself sacked thrice. This is saying a lot, considering that Favre not only had three interceptions in 11 games, but has also built quite a reputation for setting the record for the most consecutive game appearances. The Cardinal – Viking match was his 283rd.
Favre passed 30 of 45 for 235 yards, and completed for two touchdowns. His second touchdown pass, however, came at the game’s final 1:20, and could not give the Vikings enough leverage to overcome the Cardinals’ immense lead.
UPDATE : Vikings linebacker E.J. Henderson may most likely have to opt out of the season due to a broken leg during a tackle attempt. Henderson is scheduled to undergo surgery on Monday.
