Actress Catherine Zeta-Jones was treated for bipolar disorder after undergoing the stress of her husband Michael Douglas’s battle with advanced throat cancer, reports Reuters.
According to her representative on Wednesday, “Catherine made the decision to check in to a mental health facility for a brief stay to treat her Bipolar II disorder after dealing with the stress of the past year.”
“She’s feeling great and looking forward to starting work this week on her two upcoming films,” the statement said. The Oscar-winning star of “Chicago” is said to have spent about five days in an identified facility, according to People magazine.
Douglas, the star of “Wall Street,” underwent chemotherapy for stage 4 throat cancer last year but said in January his tumor has gone.
Bipolar II disorder is a milder form of bipolar disorder, which is a mental illness marked by sharp mood swings and erratic behavior. It can be treated with medication or therapy.
