Fox released a statement today, saying that Chord Overstreet is going to be joining the cast of the hit television musical series “Glee.”

Reports said Overstreet, star of the popular Nickelodeon show “iCarly,” will play the role of “a high-school athlete” that “starts off as Finn’s protégé but becomes his competition” named Sam.

Overstreet’s will be a recurring role, just like Charice’s (she will play the role of an exchange student who becomes a member of the glee club) and John Stamos’ (who will play the role of Emma Pillsbury’s love interest).

The second season of “Glee” starts airing September 21, 2010.
