Cindy McCain joins “No H8 Campaign”

Cindy McCain, wife of 2008 presidential aspirant John McCain, has expressed her stand on the issue of same sex marriage by appearing on an ad that supports gay rights.

Organizers of the “No H8 Campaign” were surprised when Mrs. McCain volunteered to be part of the project.

“In the year since we’ve started the NOH8 Campaign, we’ve been surprised at some of the different individuals who have approached us showing their support. Few, though, have surprised us more than Cindy McCain — the wife of Senator John McCain and mother to vocal marriage equality advocate Meghan McCain. The McCains are one of the most well-known Republican families in recent history, and for Mrs. McCain to have reached out to us to offer her support truly means a lot,” they said.

In a statement issued by Senator John McCain’s office, it said, “The Arizona senator respects the views of members of his family but remains opposed to gay marriage. The senator believes marriage is only defined as between one man and one woman.”
