CN4Iran: Chinese join Iranians over Twitter

A great multitude of Chinese people join in online protests over Twitter, just as the protests stemming from Iran were voiced out as #iranelection.

Today, “CN4Iran” became a trending topic in Twitter, when Chinese people started posting translations and updates in their native tongue over the popular micro-blogging service.

The trend follows the idea behind the #iranelection hashtag, where tweets voicing concerns, protests and news about the state in Iran were posted over Twitter to make them known publicly. The hashtag became a popular medium of choice for disseminating information when worldwide media, along with popular web info hubs like Facebook and YouTube, were banned in Iran following protests about the Iranian elections last June.

The Chinese, like the Iranians, live under an oppressive rule, and seek the same goals as the Iranians over their own country, argues an iReporter for CNN. The posts are partly about Iran, but a significant ration of it stem from inside China itself, reporting on what’s happening, people concerns and criticisms, and other information.

Prayers for the good people of Persia. The citizens deserve a future of stability, order, peace and prosperity no matter who the leaders are. It is terrible to see countrymen fighting each other. They would also be well served to seek peace with their neighbours and other countries in the region and world.
