Conan O’Brien made his first interview and television appearance since he and NBC parted ways on CBS’ “60 Minutes.”
O’Brien talked to CBS correspondent Steve Kroft about losing his talk show, NBC’s decision and Jay Leno.
He described his being kicked off the “Tonight Show” as “like a marriage breaking up suddenly, violently, quickly.”
Talking about Jay Leno, O’Brien said, “He went and took that show back and I think in a similar situation, if roles had been reversed, I know — I know me, I wouldn’t have done that. If I had surrendered ‘The Tonight Show’ and handed it over to somebody publicly and wished them well — and then … six months later. But that’s me, you know. Everyone’s got their own, you know, way of doing things.”
The comedian/host also talked about his nationwide tour and his upcoming late-night show with TBS in November.
O’Brien’s “60 Minutes” interview aired Sunday on CBS at 7 pm eastern.
