In the aftermath of the low dollar turnout of the Cruise and Cameron movie, Knight and Day, there are now talks of the possibility of Ethan Hunt, the character played by Tom Cruise in the modern Mission: Impossible movies may be downplayed.
Earning only a little over $20 million since its release about three weeks ago, Knight and Day had been the grounds of Cruise not being able to demand $20 million he once did for one of the Mission: Impossible movies. This low rate success of his latest project also paved the possibility that though he may appear in the upcoming M: I-4 movie, scheduled to be released during the holidays of 2011, he might be featured handing over the “mission” to another agent or agents.
Though Cruise’s reps are not so adamant that Cruise is strictly sticking to a hefty fee, “Everybody will do their best to make it work.” is all they would ever say.
In the aftermath of both sides (studio and Cruise) blaming each other on this latest low grosser it left everyone surprised that this popcorn movie even had a lower gross net than his other recent film, “Valkyrie”, which had been more tasking to market.
