McAfee, the antivirus software and computer security company, purchased by the electronics company Intel on August 19, 2010, published for the fourth time its annual list of dangerous individuals to search for in the web.

  1. Cameron Diaz
  2. Julia Roberts
  3. Jessica Biel
  4. Gisele Bündchen
  5. Brad Pitt
  6. Adriana Lima
  7. Jennifer Love-Hewitt / Nicole Kidman
  8. Tom Cruise
  9. Heidi Klum / Penelope Cruz
  10. Anna Paquin

In summary McAfee found that celebrities’ names are among the most dangerous searches while politicians’ names are the safest.

Creators of malicious software use celebrities’ names as lures so that seemingly innocent programs designed to steal passwords and other private information for profit are imbedded in computers.

Sometimes cyber criminals would dig into Twitter accounts or Google Trends and poison those links.

It’s basically the same types of malicious software but in higher numbers.

Although this year is safer to search for celebrities online than the past years there are still dangers.
