A bomb explosion destroyed the headquarters of the Inter-Services Intelligence agency in Peshawar, leaving 35 people injured and seven dead. The blast caused severe damage to the three-story building and to the vehicles parked nearby.
Reuters said the attack, which happened at around 0130 GMT, was done by a suicide car-bomber. The wounded were brought to the local hospitals, while the authorities continued to look for people who could be stuck under the wreckage.
The leader of the Peshawar’s local government, Sahib Zada Anis, said that majority of the casualties were civilians.
In recent weeks, militants have been targeting this north-western city of Pakistan. These assaults have never ceased since the army began its offensive against the Taliban networks in the South Waziristan region.
This is not the first time that an ISI building in Pakistan was targeted. In May, the Lahore headquarters was also bombed leaving 24 people dead.
About two weeks ago, another blast in a Peshawar public market killed over a hundred people.
