Diaz outpunches Malignaggi in 12-round decision

Juan “Baby Bull” Diaz triumphs over Paul Malignaggi by unanimous decision after the twelfth, in the NABO junior welterweight championship in Houston, Texas over Saturday night.

Diaz garnered the NABO championship belt over scorecards of 118-110, 116-112, and 115-113, all in favor of Diaz. Malignaggi resented the decision, challenging Diaz to a rematch in his hometown New York.

Diaz was seemingly overwhelmed by Malignaggi from the get-go, with Malignaggi throwing in fast jabs from Round 1. Diaz was eventually cut over his left eye on Round 2, and was bleeding althroughout the last ten rounds of the fight. Overall, critics are saying that the fight was a relatively close one.

Earlier in the night, Danny Jacobs wins the NABO middleweight belt over Ishe Smith in a 10-round decision, back to back with Robert Guerrero, who managed to snatch Malcolm Klassen‘s IBF junior lightweight belt over a 12-round decision.
