Gina Aalgaard Kelly bested some 13,000 other runners in the Disney Princess 1/2 Marathon at Walt Disney World this morning, winning first place by a breadth of 23 seconds.
Kelly, a 33-year-old woman from Lisbon, N.D., ran 13.1 miles with a time of 1 hour, 23 minutes and 58 seconds, well ahead of second-placer Heather Schulz, a 35-year-old woman from Orlando, who rushed through the finish line some 23 seconds later. Third-placer 35-year-old Nicole Falvo from Michigan came in just 4 seconds later with a time of 1:24:25.
On the other hand, 40-year-old Mary Pardi from Maine won the event’s masters division with a time of 1:25:10.
The Disney Princess 1/2 Marathon Weekend was held at Walt Disney World, with an estimated 18,000 individual participants in total. The event, which included a 5K marathon and a kid’s race yesterday, was geared for females, however an estimated 400 men participated on behalf of their spouses and/or partners.
