Dolphins send Greg Camarillo to Vikings

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Greg Camarillo was traded to the Minnesota Vikings on Wednesday, in exchange for cornerback Benny Sapp.

Dolphins coach Tony Sparano commented on the trade, “It happened to work out good for both teams. I don’t think from our standpoint you give away a Greg Camarillo if you don’t feel like you’re getting value in return. And vice versa.”

Camarillo played as a starter the past couple of years. Probably one of the highlights of his career with Miami was his 64-yard touchdown catch during overtime in their game against Baltimore in 2007, which gave the Dolphins their only victory.

In 2008, he was the team leader in catches, with 55 for 613 yards. Unfortunately, shortly after he was given a contract extension with the team, he suffered a knee injury and missed the last five games of the season.

Chad Pennington, Camarillo’s former Dolphins teammate and 2008 starting quarterback, described the WR as a “quintessential professional who takes the talent he has and becomes an expert at his craft.”
