Eagles RB Westbrook will sit Giants game out

Philadelphia Eagles running back Brian Westbrook is expected not to play in their home game against the New York Giants this Sunday because of a head injury he incurred last week, according to a source in a report by ESPN.

Westbrook suffered a head concussion during last Monday’s winning game against the Washington Rednecks (27-17), rendering him unable to play for this Sunday’s Giants game. Reports say, however, that although Westbrook was unable to practice all week long, he was present Friday with the Eagles, and seemed to be in good spirits.

Eagles rookie running back LeSean McCoy will be making his second start, in lieu of Westbrook for the Giants game. McCoy, a second-round draft from Pitt, started in the Week 3 game against Kansas City, and has managed to gain 84 yards on 20 carries.

The Eagles are set to defend a 4-2 standing against the Giants’ 5-2 in the upcoming game.
