Edwin Rodriguez has quit his job as manager of the Florida Marlins.
The 50-year-old handed his resignation just five days before his first anniversary as a big-league manager. His decision was gracefully accepted by the team on Sunday prior to their game against the Rays. The hunt for an interim manager is ongoing.
Rodriguez replaced Fredi Gonzalez as Marlins manager on June 23 of last year and became the first Puerto Rican to hold the position in the history of the major league.
