Emmy Awards 2010: “Modern Family,” “Glee” win major awards
 

The 2010 Emmy Awards saw two freshman comedy series rake in several major awards.

ABC’s “Modern Family” got the Outstanding Comedy Series award, beating out “Nurse Jackie,” “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” “The Office,” last year’s winner “30 Rock,” and another newcomer “Glee.”

Eric Stonestreet, who plays Cameron on the show, was awarded the Outstanding Supporting Actor award. He bested five other brilliant actors, including his co-stars Ty Burrell and Jesse Tyler Ferguson. “Modern Family” writers Steven Levitan and Christopher Lloyd received the Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series for the show.

Ryan Murphy of Fox’s TV musical series “Glee,” won the Outstanding Directing For A Comedy Series award, while Jane Lynch, who plays Sue Sylvester, got the Outstanding Supporting Actress in A Comedy Series, beating out Sofia Vergara and Julie Bowen of “Modern Family,” Jane Krakowski of “30 Rock,” Kristen Wiig of “Saturday Night Live,” and Holland Taylor of “Evelyn Harper.”

The Emmy Awards 2010 was hosted by Jimmy Fallon.
