Almost four months after her death, the 25-year-old golfer who played on the LPGA tour, Erica Blasberg’s death was ruled a suicide.
As is almost synonymous with the death of any celebrity nowadays it isn’t surprising that drugs were found in Blasberg’s system: prescription medication for headache, cough, pain and anti-anxiety medications.
“Asphyxia was the primary cause of death but the presence of drugs in her system was a significant factor,” stated County Coroner Michael Murphy.
Despite the suicide ruling Dr. Thomas Hess was arrested for obstruction of justice: for altering the scene and withholding evidence. He was the one who called 911 but wasn’t present when the police arrived.
Hess removed Blasberg’s suicide note, took Blasberg’s prescription medications to his vehicle and stopped cooperating with detectives.
Blasberg was considered one of the Ladies Profession Golf Association’s photogenic players and had Puma signed her in 2006 to endorse their clothing.
