Fire-breathing boat on display in Osaka (Video)

The "Lucky Dragon" at Suminoe shipyard. [Pink Tentacle] The 15-meter (49-foot) long aluminum cruiser, dubbed “Lucky Dragon“, is the work of post-apocalyptic artist Yanobe Kenji. The boat sports a 7-meter (23-foot) mechanical dragon head that can breathe fire and water aside from moving its neck and wings. The dragon also sports glowing red eyes for dramatic effect.
Of interesting note, perhaps, is that Yanobe seeks to promote peace and a better economy with this work of his. How exactly a mechanical fire-breathing dragon named “Lucky” can inject notions of peace and harmony among Japan’s people somewhat eludes us though.
The dragon boat is scheduled to be cruising the waters of Osaka until October 12.
