Former NHL enforcer Bob Probert dies

Retired legendary National Hockey League (NHL) enforcer Bob Probert has died. He was 45.

According to Rich Rogow, a family friend, Probert was with his wife, kids and in-laws on a boat in St. Clair on Monday when he “developed several chest pains.”

The father-in-law tried to give him CPR to no avail. Probert was then rushed to the Windsor Regional Medical Center in Ontario where he died later that day.

Probert used to play for the Detroit Red Wings (1985-1994) and Chicago Blackhawks (1995-2002).

John McDonough, president of the Blackhawks, expressed his condolences to Probert’s family. He said, “Our thoughts and prayers are with the entire Probert family during this difficult time. Bob will always be a member of the Blackhawks family and his memory will live on through our fans.”
