Joining cars, eggs, deli meat and frozen fruit bars hall of recall this year Global Positioning Systems Batteries of Garmin International, Inc. has stated that certain models of its nuvi line are being recalled because of a potential fire hazard with the non-removable battery within the device.
The company is asking consumers to check to see if their device is affected and send the battery back to the company for repair.
Only 10 devices within these models have so far been confirmed to have the problem but Garmin, for safety precautions, decided to recall all possibly affected models.
The following units with these model nos. are the ones that may be affected: 200W, 250W, 260W, 7xx and 7xxT, in which xx is a two-digit number.
Consumers can check Garmin’s official website to make sure if their nuvi device is part of the 765,000 unit recall.
Consumers are told not to repair their batteries or else void the warranty. The company made it clear they would only repair the affected batteries and not replace them.
