The womanizing Barney Stinson in How I Met Your Mother star, Neil Patrick Harris (37) and his partner David Burtka (35 actor and chef), are expecting twins via a surrogate mother.  Their babies are due in October.

Announcing very publicly via Twitter this happy news Neil said, “We’re super excited / nervous / thrilled.  Hoping the press can respect our privacy…”

David has had experience with raising twins when he helped a former boyfriend raise his kids although he wasn’t a primary parent to them.

Proving that babies do bring luck Neil:  the actor, magician, singer and director is a nominee for three Emmys:  one for Best Supporting Actor Comedy for his work on How I Met Your Mother, a second nomination for Guest Actor in a Comedy Series for Glee and a third nomination for hosting last year’s Tony Awards.

David had appeared in the second season of How I Met Your Mother as Scooter.  Six months later a story came out that David got the part because of a romantic relationship with Neil.  This led Neil to publicly acknowledge that he is gay.

Neil and David had been together since April 2004.
