About 900,000 units of GE coffee makers sold exclusively at Walmart are being recalled after the company got several reports of burning, overheating and fires.
The Consumer Safety Commission announced the recall on Tuesday, saying that Walmart received 83 complaints from consumers, including a kitchen fire, damages to cabinets, counter tops and a wall, and three minor burns on users’ bodies.
The GE 12-cup digital coffee makers were first sold in March 2008 in black or white until January this year.
The model numbers of the recalled coffee makers are 169164 and 169165.
“Consumers are advised to immediately stop using these coffee makers and return them to any Walmart for a full refund,” the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission said.
