With the news of the recent Toyota, Honda, Nissan and Suzuki recalls still warm, automobile manufacturer General Motors have also seemed to jump into the fray, forcing a recall of 1.3 million units of their cars.
The GM recall seems to stem from a problem with affected models’ power steering mechanisms. An National Highway Traffic Safety Administration investigation into more than 1,100 complaints showed that there was indeed a problem with the power steering functions of some of GM’s models.
The complaints also included reports of 14 crashes and at least injury resulting from the defect.
Affected GM models are the 2005-10 Chevrolet Cobalt, the discontinued 2007-10 Pontiac G5, the 2005-06 Pontiac Pursuit, and the 2004-05 Pontiac G4.
