The Google Earth team, in cooperation with their partner, GeoEye, has released an update for the Google Earth application showing the devastation that the recent 7.0-magnitude earthquake unleashed in Haiti last Wednesday.
In an entry on the Google Earth blog, the team put enormous effort into rolling out a KML layer for the Google Earth application, for use by various groups and organization in coordinating their rescue and support operations. They were able to create a special update for Google Earth, specifically for showing the changes in the infrastructure of the region.
The Google Earth team has made the updated KML layer available for download here (you’ll need to have Google Earth installed), and you can also open the file live on Google Maps. For your convenience, we’ve also included a live in-browser view below (you don’t need to install Google Earth; just Google’s browser plugin – which installs safely, easily and quickly).
