Phoenix Suns forward Grant Hill was awarded the Joe Dumars Trophy as winner of the 2009-10 National Basketball Association Sportsmanship Award.
The trophy is named after former Pistons guard Joe Dumars, a Hall of Famer and first ever recipient of the award.
This is Hill’s third NBA Sportsmanship trophy, making him the first ever three-time winner of this award in NBA history. His previous wins were in the 2004-05 and 2007-08 seasons.
The 15-year veteran received 96 first-place votes out of a possible 315 from his fellow NBA players. He earned a total of 2,485 points.
This annual NBA award “reflects the ideals of sportsmanship – ethical behavior, fair play and integrity – in amateur and professional basketball, a key focus of the league’s NBA Cares program efforts.”
