“Grim Sleeper” killings suspect arrested in Los Angeles

The Los Angeles police department arrested on Wednesday a man that is suspect to the “Grim Sleeper” serial killings that happened between 1985 and 2007.

Lonnie Franklin Jr., dubbed as the “Grim Sleeper,” is believed to have murdered at least 11 people. He was called so because of the 14-year break in his crimes. New DNA evidence has linked him to the case.

The arrest was made at a house on 81st Street. The neighbors described the man residing there as “quiet” and “friendly.” He would talk to pedestrians and was often seen fixing vehicles in his front yard.

According to Steve Cooley, LA Country’s district attorney, the suspect will face charges of 10 counts of murder, special circumstance allegations, and one count of attempted murder. If convicted, he could be sentenced with death penalty.
