Guatemala sinkhole appears after tropical storm Agatha

A giant sinkhole appeared in the northern part of Guatemala City in the aftermath of Agatha, swallowing up a three-story building and a house.

Residents said that the sinkhole may have been caused by the poor underground sewage drainage system.

According to the local news, a security guard was killed when the ground opened up, but the police have not confirmed it yet. There are no reports of any other casualties due to the sudden emergence of the crater.

More than 100 people were killed after tropical storm Agatha hit Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras over the weekend. Guatemala experienced the most number of casualties, with at least 92 deaths, 54 missing and 59 injured. Classes have been suspended this week.
