How to help with Haiti earthquake recovery efforts
 

The internet has been abuzz nonstop recently regarding the 7.0-magnitude earthquake that struck Haiti on Tuesday. A large number of buildings have collapsed, including the local U.N. headquarters, and a great number of people have either been killed, injured, or are missing.

A large number of groups have also put together disaster recovery response groups to help aid in the calamity. While they’re definitely giving their all, here’s what you can do behind the scenes to help the various groups performing recovery operations in the area:

Red Cross

The Washington Post details that interested parties may text HAITI to 90999. The Red Cross will receive $10 for each text message sent in this manner, credited to your mobile phone bill. For more information on how to provide help and support for Haiti through the Red Cross, you may visit their website at http://redcross.org.

UNICEF

UNICEF has also started mobilizing to provide help and support to the victims of the Haiti earthquake. For more information on how to provide assistance to recovery efforts through UNICEF, please visit their Haiti Earthquake homepage at http://unicefusa.org/haitiquake, or you may also call 1-800-4UNICEF (1-800-4864233).

Other Groups and Individuals
