NFL player Hines Ward was declared the winner of the 12th season of “Dancing with the Stars.”

The Pittsburgh Steeler won over Chelsea Kane and Kirstie Alley to snatch the Mirror ball trophy at the season finale on Tuesday night.

Ward, who plays wide receiver, danced the samba with his partner Kym Johnson to victory. He said, “Starting this competition, I never thought I’d make it to the finals. I owe it all to Kym, who’s the most amazing teacher.”

The pair wowed the judges with their chemistry and energy all throughout the season.

Judge Carrie Anne told them, “Hines, in all honestly, you’re the MVP of ‘Dancing with the Stars. You’re nothing but consistency and focus … you really dance with heart.”

Judge Bruno added, “You’re a killer when you play your sport, and a charming dazzler on the dance floor. We all fall in love.”
