Live action-animated film “Hop” earned $38.1 million on its debut, making it this weekend’s North American box office top-grosser.
In the movie, a teenaged bunny named E.B., who was voiced by British actor Russell Brand, longs to have a successful rock’n'roll career in Hollywood instead of managing their family business.
Coming in second was the sci-fi thriller “Source Code,” which raked in $15 million on its debut weekend. The movie stars Jake Gyllenhaal.
Horror flick “Insidious” took the number 3 spot with $13.5 million, while last weekend’s box office winner “Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules” fell three places to number 4 with $10.2 million.
