Hope for Haiti, George Clooney, raise $58 million for earthquake disaster aid

Hope for Haiti Now, the telethon aiming to raise funds for earthquake disaster support and aid for Haiti, has reportedly raised more than $58 million, more than any other telethon opened to the general public has ever raised.

George Clooney, who is considered to be the brainchild of the project, is also in the limelight for the project’s resounding success. Hope for Haiti Now was organized by Clooney, in cooperation with Haitian-American Wyclef Jean, in just about one week. Despite that, Hope for Haiti Now has received massive support and success, and has also featured the likes of Madonna, Justin Timberlake, Sting, Rihanna, Bruce Springsteen, Julia Roberts, Brad Pitt and former U.S. president Bill Clinton either showcasing performances or answering phones in the hopes of raising funds.

In addition, the Hope for Haiti Now album is also grossing as the top iTunes download in approximately 18 countries. The album features singles by Justin Timberlake, Matt Morris, Taylor Swift, Beyonce and Madonna. The album can be downloaded here.
