Former Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak was hospitalized Tuesday in the Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh.
According to reports, Mubarak was taken to the VIP wing of the hospital and no other patients, except those that need emergency treatment, were being accepted. Several police cars and military surround the vicinity of the hospital.
The cause of the ex-leader’s hospitalization is unknown as of the moment, but a source said “the ministry of health will make an announcement shortly.”
Because of protests and throngs of people calling for his resignation, Mubarak was forced to step down on February 11, after almost 30 years of being in power.
