Former Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak will be moved to a military hospital in the country’s capital, after his doctors said it’s now okay for him to travel.
The 82-year-old politician has been staying in a hospital in the Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh since he became ill after he was ousted. In the past couple of weeks, he reportedly suffered from heart problems and was admitted in a private hospital wing in Sharm el-Sheikh.
In a statement released by the prosecutor general, he said, “The public prosecutor addressed the interior minister, informing him to take the necessary steps to move the former president … to a military hospital, to implement a custody order.”
Mubarak stepped down from his position on February 11.
