Innovative Converged Devices (ICD) has released the specifications of a sleek and elegant touchscreen tablet that is planned to run Android 2.0, the Eclair edition of Google’s in-house operating system, according to a report by Register Hardware.
The new ICD touchscreen tablet, named Vega, will be generally be available as a 15.6-inch touchscreen display that can provide resolutions of up to 1366×768 pixels, but will also be available in 7-inch and 11-inch approximate sizes.
Of note is that the Vega is only about 16mm thick, making it somewhat ideal for mounting on a wall as a ready device for internet access (Register Hardware suggests a Vega in the kitchen, or a living room, for example). However, the Vega can also be held up by a magnetic support stand that attaches behind the screen.
The Vega will also sport an on-board webcam (1.3 megapixel), Bluetooth support and optional support for 3G. Vega, however, will not support 802.11n type WiFi connectivity, although it will support it’s older incarnations 802.11b and 802.11g.
ICD is scheduled to roll out the Vega in Europe sometime in January.
