Most Gleeks, as Glee fans have come to be known, have stood on excitement the moment that it was announced that Idina Menzel was guest-starrin on the hit television series, exclaiming that Menzel is sure to be playing the mother of Rachel Berry, the main female protagonist of the show played by Lea Michele.

It’s definitely true that Lea Michele’s character on Glee certainly bears a striking resemblance to the Broadway star, so it just follows that there be speculation that they’re possibly related on the show.

Idina Menzel’s first appearance on the show, however, revealed her to be the coach of a rival choir. Still, the speculation that she was indeed Rachel’s mother has never been confirmed (nor denied!), and Menzel’s comments about her character certainly don’t help in shedding some definitive light on what she actually holds for the show and its characters.

“There is much more to her than has been revealed in the first episode that I was in,” says Menzel. “I will say that her intentions are not quite evil. She’s going to unravel more and show a different side to her personality.”

Still doesn’t answer our question. So what (or who) really is Idina Menzel’s character on the show?

“Maybe I’m going to be Lea ‘s lesbian lover. You never know!”
