iPhone 3.1.3 Update: Apple releases OS 3.1.3

The iPhone OS 3.1.3 version is one step closer to the iPhone OS 3.2 that everyone seems to be waiting for. While OS 3.1.3 is only a minor update over Apple’s current iPhone OS, the 3.1.3 version does offer a few nifty features and security updates.

One thing that’s missing from OS 3.1.3, though, is multi-tasking – which is heavily expected to be on the coming iPhone OS 3.2 release. However, there’s no confirmation on whether or not multi-tasking will actually be available on OS 3.2, and there are some talks about the iPhone OS 3.2 release being exclusive to the new Apple iPad.

Reports say that the new iPhone OS 3.1.3 will have more accurate reporting of battery levels, and also some minor fixes with some applications launching. It also provides some fixes with the native Japanese keyboard present in the iPhone. A report of updates and changes for iPhone OS 3.1.3 is available here.

Upgrading to the iPhone OS 3.1.3 will revert jailbroken and unlocked iPhone units – meaning that if you value features and functionality present because of a jailbroken iPhone, you might want to skip upgrading to OS 3.1.3 for the meantime.
