AT&T has stopped selling iPhones over its online store website Sunday night, with no clear reason as to why. At least, if you’re living in New York City.
The carrier’s online store started prohibiting sales of iPhones for customers in the New York area, and inquisitors, bloggers and more customers are getting generic reasons as to why there was such a ban, according to a report from Engadget.
People are getting responses from AT&T’s customer support team that they “periodically modify [their] promotions and distribution channels”, with others getting lines about credit card fraud and whatnot. There was even one account saying that the reason given to them as that New York “wasn’t ready for the iPhone.” What again?
Given that AT&T has had a shaky track record with Apple with regards to service for the iPhone, this is definitely shaping up to be another of those rocky incidents. We’re hoping that AT&T has a legitimate reason for this disturbance.
