Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad claimed that Iran has successfully mastered nuclear technology, and criticized countries that have tried to stop the nuclear activities of Iran in the past, all in a speech delivered last Friday.
“Today, Iranian scientists and experts have fully mastered the nuclear and have been taking giant steps and moving at full pace towards meeting all domestic needs and making proper use of home-grown potential in the field of nuclear energy,” says Ahmadinejad in a speech delivered during National Nuclear Day.
Local officials also unveiled new centrifuges, dubbed ‘third-generation’, that they claim are six times faster than the current ones being used.
Ahmadinejad also proceeded to call countries that have tried to stop Iran’s nuclear progress as “arrogant” countries, expressing terrible distaste for “selfish behavior”. Iran has long claimed that nuclear proliferation within the country was strictly for energy purposes only, however, Ahmadinejad has been perpetually under scrutiny that Iran was using this as a cover for nuclear weapons development.
Earlier this month, the US has announced a major reform in its nuclear strike policy, saying that the circumstances and situations wherein the country will consider the use of nuclear arms will be completely revamped. However, US President Barack Obama also appended that Iran and North Korea are exceptions to this policy, in the sense that the US will still maintain its current stand of nuclear weapon use against these countries, primarily because Iran and North Korea did not support global nuclear proliferation agreements.
